Relevance of astrological / zodiac signs

This random thought hit me while I was taking a shower.

How much truth is there in the profile of a astrological / zodiac sign?

You know they always say certain signs have certain unique characteristics. Take my sign, Scorpio / Ox for example, I am associated with words like passionate, perceptive, resourceful, possessive, psychological, prowling, determined, probing, fixed, focused. (according to this website)

And according to this website, their take on the Ox..

"Oxes may appear docile, but watch out! They also have quite a temper. They are extremely determined and work tirelessly to get what they want. Step by step and piece by piece, they move steadily toward their goals. People born under the sign of the Ox are dependable and stick to a routine until the job is done. They are fair-minded and good listeners, but they can also be extremely stubborn."

So I was just wondering while I'm shampooing my hair (note that I was showering while thinking about this),

Are we born into these traits?

OR

Are we gradually shaped to be what we are today, from the perception / expectations from others, of the astrological / zodiac sign we are born in?

I am just blabbering without doing any research, but what I think is, people who are born in any month of the year, has no association whatsoever with their astrological / zodiac sign. To me, the latter statement holds more truth than the former.

This would be an interesting study.

Imagine if it is proven that the latter statement is true, we wouldn't have any more daily columns of "What should a Scorpio do today", we wouldn't have zodiac experts appearing on tv advising on lucky colours.

And most important of all, we wouldn't have singles who chooses a particular astrological / zodiac sign when they date. Like erm, the astrological law (if there's such a thing) states that Taurus are more compatible with a certain star sign.

Bullshit!

We would be free from one less classification.

Ain't that great!
