Merry Christmas 2008

*pictures to be uploaded soon

I was blabbering to jH that I can cook christmas eve dinner for her and she gave me the -.-||| look because the last time I cooked pasta for some other significant day, the noodles ended up so dry and hard we didn't enjoy it at all. Anyway, it was just a thought to cook dinner during christmas eve, but like how we usually go about things, WE ACTUALLY DID DECIDE TO COOK DINNER!

We met up at AMK Hub's Fairprice with the slightest idea of what to buy. To cut things short, we walked around for a while and decided on seafood. So this is what we planned for dinner.

Starter

BBQ XTRA LARGE Tiger Prawns (like those they sell to ang mohs at newton)

Main Course

1) Mussels cooked with chicken stock with prawns
2) Pan fried cod fish served with broccoli and corn

Beverage

Beer (We bought Heineken because the packaging looks fittingly festive)

Dessert

Warmed muffin served with unlimited scoops of Ben N' Jerry's ice cream!!!!

The cooking part was quite a nightmare because we started preparing at 5:30pm, and only started eating at 9pm!

Actually we postponed the dessert because we felt so bloated after the heavy dinner. The dessert was served while we're watching Sodagreen's concert DVD later that night. We wished each other Merry Christmas after we finished Disc 1 and went off to bed. Haha... I guess the cooking part really sapped all of our energy.

On christmas day, we made another spontaneous decision to go walk the SOUTHERN RIDGES. The entire trail was almost 10km and I didn't want to die on christmas day. Luckily, I managed to convince her and we only ended walking half of it before watching Yes Man at Vivocity!

This time I dragged my brother along because he needed some exercise too! We took bus 93 to Alexandra and proceeded to the first destination, Hort Park. It was a stark contrast to all the tall concrete buildings surrounding it which really provided a breath of fresh air in that urban area.

After walking to the other end of Hort Park, we U-turned to where we started and proceeded towards Mount Faber. On route, we were on the tree top trail AND THE VIEW WAS MAGNIFICENT! All of us thought we won't even break a sweat because it is so cooling, but as we went on, our legs become increasingly wobbly and my shirt started to smell of sweat. My brother is more kua zhang because sweat was dripping off his face.

Further ahead, we reached Henderson's Wave. At this point, the other two began to switch off to the surroundings and the scenic walk became torturous instead.

When we finally reached Mount Faber, we were so happy because we could see Vivocity from where we were standing!

Walked down the steps and we have completed half of the southern ridges!

The immediate replenishment was downing a cup of Bandung plus a plate of Ayam Penyet at the nearest food centre. Instant gratification!

After the dinner, we proceeded to the toilets to freshen up. Don't want to stink up the whole theatre ah.

We bought some snacks to go along with the movie and in we went! Indulgence is THE word on Christmas. In the end I think we consumed more calories than we burnt during the walk.

Dragged our aching legs back to the bus interchange and took the bus home. (:

This christmas was well spent because I'm sure I can remember what I did last christmas when 2009 comes.
