If you notice, this is my third post in an hour. Too little time, too much to update.
Myself and jH attended Gary Cao Ge's concert last Saturday, held at the Singapore Indoor Stadium. Initially we wanted to give it a miss, but considering cheap tickets going on auction on eBay... we changed our mind.
Conclusion: I don't think i would have missed much if i didn't attend this concert.
I'm not exactly a hardcore fan of Cao Ge, but i do admit i can hum most of his songs. However, he is not so a performer on stage if you compare him with David Tao / Mayday / Zhang Hui Mei when they held concerts in Singapore earlier.
He started off pretty tensed, with him singing 'Superwoman' followed by a couple of quick numbers. There was not much interaction going on UNTIL he played on the piano. That was when he loosened up a little and attempted to converse with the audience. But still, i felt something was missing.
Stage presence aside, his singing is flawless. Ok not really flawless because he went off pitch a few times during the concert, but it was definitely good singing / voice. As you might have already seen in the newspapers, he took off his shirt and threw it towards the audience. And he posed while he was lowered down the stage.
One of the few highlights of the concert was when the camera captured YANG ZHONG WEI on the big tv screen. If you don't know who is he, go google and find out. IMO, he's the next big thing.
So yeah, that concludes this post. Looking forward to Sodagreen's concert on August!
Concert Bloopers
It is this which makes 'LIVE Concerts' different from watching a pre-recorded show.
1) During the song 'Superman', Cao Ge was dressed in a yellow outfit, resembling that of Bruce Lee. It's a choreographed "fighting dance", with him fending off cute monsters to rescue the caged princess.
At one point, he was so engrossed in the dance, he forgot to come in for the song until the chorus. However, it was covered up rather nicely, so, WELL DONE!
2) The problem with non-english speaking performers is the part where they are required to thank the sponsors. However in Gary's case, i don't know how/why he got the name wrong.. probably due to bad handwriting? 'I Weekly' became 'T Weekly'.. and the Singaporean crowd corrected him promptly by saying together in a loud voice...
"I Weekly".... - Damn embarrassing moment
3) And thats all i can think of now... till then!
