Singtel has got the exclusive right to distribute the much awaited I Phone in Singapore, which explains the high price. But if you sign up together with a 2yr plan, an 8gb I phone will cost you around $350 with a monthly subscription of $42(+/-)
BUT, is it really worth that money?
jH was there signing up an I Phone for a common friend, and I was thinking why is he getting it? Is it for the phone? The functions? The assumed social status that comes with it? Because apparently I don't really care what phones I carry, as long as it's sms-friendly and I can make calls on it.
I tried using the I Phone's touch screen to type a simple sms - 'Hi, where are you?'..
It turned out so gahberrish because you cant use a stylus. You end up aiming your fat thumb onto the small letter, just to type a simple message. And for most of the time, you don't get the letter you want. To a person who uses sms for everything, this is definitely a push (away) factor. Imagine the horror when you need to insert an email / website. -.-
Personally I don't think the touch screen works for me although I got to admit the phone does look really sleek. Oh well, functionability beats looks. What do you think?
