Met up with a secondary school mate who’s back in Singapore for his brother’s wedding. It's a strange feeling meeting friends made during that period... despite the lack of contact over the past few years, we just feel so comfortable picking up wherever we left off. Girls, football, Games. Just like old times. :)
We first met in secondary school and like all boys, we clicked because of soccer. After graduating, he moved to the States for studies, and eventually settled there with a decent job in engineering.
So during our meet up, he shared with us his plans and we were supportive, and at the same time somewhat envious of his enterprising spirit. He's holding a full-time job in the States, while he recently opened a hot dog stall in Indonesia with 3 other friends. Not just any hot dog stall, but the branding thought process that went into it, to me, was really far-sighted. And because of this strong foundation in branding, there are many possibilities for this product.
When I asked him how and where does he get all these ideas, he simply answered: "You just need to be observant, and see what's lacking." During our chat, he pointed out another possible business idea that could be done in Indonesia. Truly, I believe he can make it big one day.
But though enterprising, he's boggled by the lack of funds... which is a typical hurdle for most entrepreneurs. So I sincerely wish him the best that he manages to find an angel investor willing to realise his ideas. Afterall, ideas are just plain talk if not executed.
The night ended as we parted our ways from ION Starbucks, and back to our own lives.
It's good to see friends doing good in life..
And I wish him well. :)
