How was your new year?
For myself, it has become a routine to have my reunion dinner at my grandma's place on the eve, together with the other 7 families. Imagine all 30 odd of us squeezing in a 3 room flat! With 2 steamboats, we even had to take turns to eat. Families would catch up on how they are doing, and how their kids are doing in school. Very typical Singaporean kaypo-ism.
Onto 初一, the families will revisit my grandma's place and I would collect most of my ang baos there on 初一. This year, I got an extra few when I visited jH's grandma place on 初二. But by the time I arrived, most relatives had already left. SIAN.
And what's CNY without gambling right? Like what they all say, 小赌怡情. I won a few bucks over 2 days of gambling. Not worth the effort, but fun nonetheless.
As I'm typing this, it's already 17 Feb (初四). The extended break is coming to an end, which means a flood of activities is drawing ever nearer! I think it's safe to say now that I'll be one of the travelling delegates for a business study mission to Cambodia in early March. There are still many loose ends to tie up, but fingers crossed everything will go on smoothly.
But before that, I'll be accompanied by a colleague, to co-host a company's CNY dinner. And it'll be the first time I'm emcee-ing in Mandarin! 紧张!The management even took the effort to bring us down to Chinatown and sponsored a set of traditional Chinese outfit for us. Judging by their enthusiasm as sets of clothings were flung to us for fitting, it should be a great show. (牺牲。。。。)
Hope everyone had a good break away from work / school / army.
