This is the only film on my "to-watch" list that allows me to utilise the GV Member's 1-for-1 voucher. Don't say me cheap-skate k, I saved $7.50 lor!
Onto the movie, the animated film is filled with witty dialogues and easy humour to keep both adults and children happy. But the true gem is how the plot subtlely revolves around a social issue; which is social inequality.
Witty Mr. Fox, voiced by George Clooney, was never satisfied to live the way other foxes did. He wanted to eat and live well. This is cleverly contrasted with his character, which is a fox.
And because of his identity, he is being denied the right to enjoy what others can. (note the subtle notion on what is right? what is wrong?)
The fox is perceived to be a cunning, scavenger-like animal, which the movie successfully portrayed Mr Fox making a fool out of the 3 farmers, Boggis, Bunce and Bean. The tales of Mr Fox was also told from his perspective, which showed the emotional motive of his actions.
All in all, every character in the film only wanted the best for themselves. There's a bit of selfishness in this, but hey, it is survival in the world outside. A true reflection of reality.
This film is indeed a gem for avid movie-goers.
That said, this story might be a bit too sophisticated for the children to fully grasp though. So, you might want to leave your kids at home, and grab a copy of the DVD when it's out.
p.s. children talking in the cinema is really irritating.
