Phase 1 - Thinking of moving out

At some phase of your life, you'll start your own family. And very often, individuals move out from their parents because the typical Singaporean live in HDB, which cannot accomodate so many people. But the unspoken reason is of course, privacy.

I've long wanted to move out and live on my own, but I'm impeded by my finances. Nothing new, because houses in Singapore aren't exactly the cheapest in the region.

But there are few grants available that make the desirable pad a little more affordable

Grants applicable:

1) Family Grant ($30,000 or $40,000 depending on location)

2) Additional CPF Housing Grant (think we'll qualify for the $15,000 grant)

So to make things simpler, there are 3 available life-changing plans as of now.

Plan A - Ballot for a BTO flat in two years' time, get the flat in 2015.

Plan B - Ballot for a BTO flat now, get the flat in 2013.

Plan C - Start researching for a resale flat, and buy at the appropriate time (hopefully within 5 years)

Quite a lot of factors to consider..

Financial condition, location, size of apartment, timing, level of commitment..

Decisions, decisions...
