Movie Review: Star Trek

I haven't been a fan of the Star Trek series shown on TV, so I was quite skeptical if I would like the movie. That said, I'm a big fan of Star Wars. All that spacecraft shooting, outerspace fantasy and weird looking aliens. The slight similarity with these two franchises is probably the draw for me to hit the cinemas in its first week of opening.

What I liked about the movie
The fast-paced storyline which wasted no time introducing space combat / the good and bad guys. I also liked the quirky hand signs that the Vulkans have, paired with their tagline "Live long and prosper." Machiam Star Wars' "May the force be with you!"

There's also this scene which the lead is bumped onto this planet which inhabits strange creatures. And before he could figure his way around, he had to run away from this polar bear looking creature, and subsequently another gi-normous dragon lookalike creature. Very fantasy-like stuff. I like!

What I don't like about the movie
Actually there's nothing to dislike about this movie. Unless you're not too pleased with how the lead manages to come up tops in the numerous hand to hand combat scenes.

Overall, I enjoyed this movie very much and wouldn't hesitate to watch the sequel (if any).
