Evening with Tim Reynish

jH and I arrived after working 4hrs straight at the roadshow, feeling sticky all over but that did not stop us from enjoying the music! Or at least myself. I know jH enjoyed the lightings and air-con very much.

The repertoire was pretty much new to us, as i supposed is also the case to most in the audience. IF the music was not conducted by the man himself, i don't think i would have appreciated it at all.

Tim Reynish presented the gist of the songs before it was being played so we can 'hear out' for these tunes. And to better appreciate the piece, he made sure there was some entertainment involved. E.g. Having an impromptu rehearsal session with the band and Dr. Goh Toh Chai before the song Symphonie Bombastique

The song is composed by Dr. Goh and is his birthday gift to Tim Reynish.

Tim Reynish is an anti-cheese conductor, as he stated towards the end of the 2hr long concert. Even the encore piece sounded so chorale and ended with a nice chord.

This concert showed that music is really about having fun. Of course, you'll need to play well before you can reach that stage... but... you get the picture.

I had that dessert crave after the concert so we took a bus over to Bugis and had desserts at Liang Seah Street. The shop had generous servings of its desserts, and it's really value for money. Prices range from $1.80 to $9 (if i remember correctly) depending on what you order. The mango + pomelo is like the best seller. Selling at only $3.80, the serving is almost triple that of what you get at other Hong Kong Cafes, for the same price some more!! Anyway, we had that and chilled yam with sago, and chilled beancurd + ginko nuts. Yum yum. (:
